Caption: Author Clifford Irving who spent 16 months in jail for writing a fake autobiography of industrialist Howard Hughes, was freed on parole by federal authorities Thursday. Irving had been kept in a New York hotel which is used as a halfway house by the Federal Bureau of Parole.
