Description
Caption: Sen. John L. McClellan (d-ark) and Sen. W. Stuart Symington (d-mo), right, take over during a Senate Investigations subcommittee hearing today when Mrs. Annie Lee Moss, suspended Army communications worker, swore she never had been a Communist. Symington said ?I believe you are telling the truth.? Both he and McClellan rebuked Roy Cohn, subcommittee chief counsel, for injecting into the record testimony the group received in a closed-door hearing. ?I don?t like to try people by hearsay evidence,? said McClellan. Chairman Joseph McCarthy was temporarily absent from the room at this point.
