But a GM deal seemed to be on a back burner until recently, when the automaker began talks with the inventor. McCord latest U.S. Patent was isued in 1984 and has 12 years to run. He has five patents overseas and three pending.McCord says he has turned down five offers for his company including a $1.6 million bid a year ago.
