Description

Caption: James McCracken played Jean de Leyde in ?Le Prophete.? He sang securely, without strain that was evident in past years. It is apparently impossible for him to sing high softly without resorting to an irritating falsetto, which he did so consistently that one must presume that part of his voice is gone forever. But he brought a nobility to most of his singing that was more than the music deserved.
