1961 Press Photo Wade H McCree Jr Circuit Court Judge

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Caption: If Wade H. McCree, Jr., were captain of a Navy vessel instead of a Circuit Court judge, he probably would run what is called in Navy terms, "a taut ship," or one of the best. In his courtroom, McCree likes everything shipshape even if it means recessing an embezzlement trial while he mends a rent in his robes, which he is shown doing in this picture. The judge keeps an old cigar box in his chambers filled with thread, needles and even a bottle of spot remover for his own needs, those of his staff and "even defendants who appear before me in need of some minor repair work.".
