Caption: Michael Smith, left, and Oleg Lobanov have been placed in charge of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Smith, as general manager, and Lobanov, as executive vice-president and managing director, are faced with the job of solidifying the DSO's financial security and returning the orchestra to the touring and recording areas in which it's had some of its greatest successes.
