He was told that President Johnson ?contradicted? Humphrey?s prediction of a reduction of U.S. Forces in South Vietnam late this year or early next year. Humphrey called for the newspaper to read the head over a news story, which said a Marine regiment was being returned home from Vietnam. Humphrey was campaigning in Houston for Texas votes.
