Description
Caption: The hearing commonly assume sign language is English converted to symbols. The most popular form, American Sign Language, is actually language unto itself, different from the systems of Mexico, French-speaking Canada, or even England. Those who know ASL can also read and write English are considered bilingual. Hunter, 42 and Director of Deaf and Deafened in Lansing, Michigan can bring down the house just by spelling a few words or telling an old joke. ?Deaf people? distort signs to make them funny, the same way you would with words,? says Hunter.
