Caption: Kathy HuffhinesLike a lot of us, Kathy Huffhines loved movies.unlike the rest of us, she could write about her passion for and extensive knowledge of films in a thoughtful, lyrical way that enhanced our appreciation of them. That,s what made hermovie reviews and critical essays so lively and accessible to Free Press readers. The word "Critic" sometimes conveys the public image of a dour, carping negativist, eager to find andpoint out the worst in everything. But Ms. Huffhines was far more likely to express burstingenthusiasm for the pictures she enjoyed -- high-minded or lowbrow, as long as they were well made--thanspend a lot of time skewering Hollywood Schlock.Ms. Huffhines dies this week at the age of 48 of injuries she sustained in a cruelly freakish auto accident. Personally and professionally, we're the poorer for that loss.
