Caption: Star Filled Ads can be Forgettable ? If you?ve got something sell, hire Bill Cosby, but forget about Arnold Palmer ? because consumers will if they see him in your ads. A recent survey by Advertising Age magazine of 1,250 consumers found that only 59 percent could recall any television ad that used celebrities among the commercials they?d seen in the previous month. While some stars made lasting, favorable impressions, others were? well, forgettable. For instance, more than half the adults surveyed did not recall seeing McDonald?s ads starring actor-director John Houseman. Cosby was the most memorable, in spots for Texas Instruments, Coca-Cola, and Jell-O pudding.
