Description
Caption: HAPPY HOWARD--Navy's Dan Howard, who was picked as AP's co-back of the week, is all smiles today as he eats lunch in the U.S. Naval Academy mess hall. Howard, a junior tailback from Pittsburgh, Pa., scampered 239 yards and scored two touchdowns in a record-tying 34 carries last Saturday as the Midshipmen defeated the Boston College Eagles 27-20 in a football game here. Howard's effort was the second best rushing performance since Navy began playing football in 1879. The record is held by Sneed Schmidt, who picked up 277 yards in a single game in 1935.
