Caption: Gunther Herbig, music director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, spent last week in Los Angeles serving as guest conductor with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Herbig led a standard Bowl program in a manner to bring out the best features of each work, and in a way that elicited strong, relaxed and virtually immaculate playing.
