CAPTION: Gary, Ind., Feb. 9 - Held as Slayer of Father He Claimed 'Too Old to Live' - John Purevich (right), unemployed millhand, stands with police today after Detective Sgt. James Traeger (third from left) said Purevich told him he killed his 65-year-old father because "he was too old to live." Traeger said Purevich said he had heard mercy killing stories. Purevich's father had worked yesterday at his job in the Carnegie-Illinois Steel Co. plant.
