CAPTION: Washington, Sept. 15 - Makes Polio Announcement - Surgeon General Luther Terry as he announced the U.S. Public Health Service recommendation to temporarily halt the use of Type III oral polio vaccine for adults. It is one of three types now being used in mass immunization programs. The recommendation was reached in Washington tonight after a meeting of nearly 10 hours by a committee of polio experts who advise the Public Health Service on polio vaccines. The committee said the risk to children is exceedingly slight and suggested continuation of mass immunization program for preschool and school age..
