CAPTION: (FOR USE WITH HAL BOYLE'S COLUMN FOR PMS OF FRIDAY, AUG. 16) -- (NY26-Aug. 15) A TOP SINGER -- Constance Towers was 12 when she lost her job as a summer usherette in a small town theater by accidentally setting fire to the popcorn machine.
