Caption: Dr. Harlow Shapley, emeritus professor of astronomy at Harvard University, is 80 today, (nov.2). The famed astronomer who supposedly retired a decade ago will not mark birthday but plans to give a lecture to scientists at Cape Kennedy, Fla. He was director of Harvard Observatory from 1921 to 1952. He lives in Sharon, N.H., in warmer months and Cambridge, Mass., rest of the year when not traveling.
