Caption: This painting by William H. Powell shows Lt. Oliver Hazard Perry moving from his disabled flagship Lawrence to the Niagara during the battle of Lake Erie, Sept. 10, 1813. Perry defeated the British fleet, one of the turning points in the War of 1812. The painting hangs in the Ohio Capitol in Columbus and in the national Capitol in Washington.
