Caption: Bavarian Festival will open Sunday in Frankenmuth and run through the following Saturday. A parade at 3 p.m. Sunday will be the first major event. Last year's parade drew 20,000 visitors to this old Bavarian town of 2,000 people. Some 50,000 visitors are attracted annually to Frankenmuth for its famous chicken dinners. Preparing to greet the week's surge of visitors are (from left) Dr. Victor Engle; Princess Kathy Uebler, William Zehnder, Jr., Lowell Borcherding, secretary of the Civic Events Council, which sponsors the affair; Harry Boesnecker, festival co-chairman, and Jack Friebe, festival chairman.
