Caption: 11 year old Christopher Ventura sits with his father Mario, in the livingroom of the family home in Pleasant Prairie. Great Lakes seriesThis water hook-up in the Ventura laundry room had to be rerouted because of build up from the minerals in the water. The Ventura moved into their hone in 1987 and have spend over $2000 to repair or replace plumbing damaged from the minerals in the water and replace the water heater. The replaced or repaired several appliances damaged by the water (4 steam irons, 2 electric coffee makers, repaired the water lines in the refrigerator for the ice maker.)They use unsoftened tap water for bathing, brushing teeth, laundry (use bleach on a regular basis) and washing dishes. (they use a dishwasher and add vinegar to try to cut the buildup on the dishes) They use bottled water and tap water for cooking. A 2-month old Epic faucet is already cloffed with minerals in the Ventura kitchen. The water tower from the Zerbil well rises over the River Oaks subdivision in Pleasant Prairie. The water tower and well are now a Pleasant Prairie Water Utility that has relatively good water but not a lot of it. River Oaks, the subdivision where the Ventura family lives, gets their water from the Tri-Clover well.
