Caption: EARNS AVIATOR'S BADGE--Army Chief of Staff Gen. William C. Westmoreland has completed training and tests to earn an aviator's badge, qualifying him to fly a UH-1 Huey helicopter. The 56-year-old general, who was commander of U.S. troops in Vietnam, is the first Army chief of staff to be an aviator. He is shown here as a passenger in a helicopter during a tour of a People's Self-Defense Force training center in South Vietnam in July, 1970.
