Caption: William O'Brien, ChryslerHe is a one time professional basketball player, a 10-year veteran of the FBI and a Chrylser executive who cut his automotive teeth in the aircraft division of Ford. Now 61, William M. O'Brien is Chrysler's vice-president for employee and industrial relations and a negotiator whom associates on both sides of the bargaining table describe as 'low key' and 'kindly.'O'Brien made a 1970 proposal that Chrysler 'pilot' a four-day work week rather than study a dental plan as part of its terms for reaching a settlement contract.
