Paquet, 67, who has been named to sit at the special session of a grand jury probe into the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, a passenger in Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's car last July. Judge Paquet caused an uproar in Massachusetts in 1960 when he freed two bookies he had just bailed, saying he had "a change of mind.".
