Caption: Former Deputy Detroit Police Commissioner Anthony Bertoni was sworn in Tuesday as United States marshal in Detroit by Chief U.S. District Judge Cornelia Kennedy. Now a resident of Warren, Bertoni joined the Police Department in 1947 and rose through the ranks to be superintendent of police in 1973. Bertoni, 58, retired from the department in January 1975.
