Caption: Frank and Nicky Luxton expect their Clawson house to be snug for winter with a new rear addition to capture and store the sun's heat. The interior, above, stores heat in a brick floor and in head storage rods (in the white box at left and in top detail photo). The exterior wall, at right, has two layers of opaque fiberglass with 1 1/2 inches of air between. Heat from the storage rods is drawn by a fan above them into the family room.
