Caption: Detroit Edison engineer Ted Krupa, a judge at the Science and Engineering Fair of Metropolitan Detroit being held in Cobo Hall, examines an award-winning project demonstrating principles of solar energy collection. The project was designed by Eric Siegal, a ninth grader at Hillel Day School in Farmington Hills. The fair opens to the public today, and continues through Sunday. It features projects of 2000 students in 7th through 12th grades. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. It's free.
