Description
Caption: The three children of Henry VIII: Edward, at age four; Mary; and Elizabeth I at her accession. From A Crown For Elizabeth, Mary M. Luke's story of the Tudor children and their struggle to attain and keep the Crown of England. Exercising her motto, "I See and I Am Silent," Elizabeth watched from the sidelines as her half-brother and sister faced the challenges and hazards of the Crown. When her turn came, as she knew it would, she did not repeat their mistakes. A Crown for Elizabeth culminates with her accession and the beginning of her reign as the last – and greatest – of the Tudors.Edward and Mary, two of Henry VIII's children: "The portrait of the young boy Edward brings back his charm, his intelligence, his brief life. Mary I is shown here as she really was – a gallant, gentle-hearted survivor of unenviable anxiety and indignity.".
