Caption: Rafer Hoxworth (Richard Harris) is a flamboyant whaling sea captain, who loses his girl to another man in "Hawaii." James A. Michener's monumental novel "Hawaii" comes to the screen as Mirisch Corporation presentation for United Artists roadshow release and is a George Roy Hill-Walter Mirisch production starring Julie Andrews as Jerusha Bromley Hale, Max von Sydow as Abner Hale and Richard Harris as Captain Rafer Hoxworth. Walter Mirisch produced and George Roy Hill directed the romantic adventure drama in such widespread places as the Arctic Coast of Norway, Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts, the Hawaiian Islands and the Hollywood studios. The screenplay was by Dalton Trumbo and Daniel Taradash, with music by Elmer Bernstein. In Panavision and Color by DeLuxe.
