Caption: MERRIL-PALMER Institute Tuesday presented citation awards to Mark F. Ethridge, Sr. (left), editor of Newsday, Garden City, Long Island; his wife, Willie Snow Ethridge, author of 12 books, and Ralph A. Ulveling (right) director of the Detroit Public Library. The citations are the Institute's equivalent of honorary degrees. Mr. and Mrs. Ethridge are the parents of Mark F. Ethridge, Jr., associate editor of the Detroit Free Press. The senior Ethridge for 21 years was publisher of the Louisville (Ky.) Courier-Journal, retiring in 1963.
