Caption: healthier than thouName: Agnes ButlerAge: 75Hometown: Dearborn HeightsOccupation: Helps maintain pool and locker areas at Dearborn Fitness USA spa; leads pool aerobics class three mornings a week.Profile: Butler says her job is her hobby. She has worked for the spa for nine years and became a member when it opened 15 years ago."Back in 1970, I had a very, very bad back and arthritis, and my doctor recommended exercise. So I've been doing it ever since."At first I used to exercise with the weights but now that I'm in the pool area, I'm doing water aerobics. I think this is better for me. It makes your body weightless when you're up to your shoulders, so every move you make, you're pushing weight."Butler's 45-minutes classes begin with a five-minute job in the shallow end. "Then we relieve the tension - very slowly (roll) your neck .. Then we roll our shoulders, get all the hinges loosened up .."Besides increasing flexibility and muscle tone, pool aerobics is vigorous enough to benefit heart and lungs if done non-stop, says Butler: "We never really stop moving because we want to keep their heartbeats going the whole time."- Bill Laitner.
