On newspapering: "I was always nosy and it was a perfect way to be paid for being nosy.. The editorial page is one of the ways a newspaper hangs on to its identity, and it does that with well-researched, thoughtful, forceful editorials that leave no doubt in the reader's mind where we stand.".
