Caption: (FX3) San Francisco, Dec. 1--Getting Ready for Sea Duty--Lt. Charlene I. Suneson, 27, the first woman ever assigned to sea duty as a line officer of the U.S. Navy, is all set to begin an 18-month Pacific cruise. She reported to Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay yesterday, and is shown as she was briefed on navigation by Lt. Cmdr. Cecil Allison aboard the USS Interdictor. She will report Dec. 8, to the USS W.A. Mann, and expects to be assigned to the transportation division. Lt. Suneson is a graduate of the University of Chicago and has been in the Waves seven years.
