Caption: Willie J Fleming, football halfback for the British Columbia Lions of Vancouver, Canada, is now undergoing U.S. Air Force basic military training in the Air Nation Guard squadron at Lackland Airforce Base, TexasOn completion of the eighth week course, the 22-year-old will be assigned to the ANG unit at Bellingham AFB, Wash.Prior to entering the Air Force, Airman Fleming was graduated from Hamtramck high School, Mantramck, Mich. Then the 185 pounder attended the University of Iowa for two years, and starred in the university's 1959 appearance in the Rose Bowl. He then accepted the Lions' offer to play Canadian football. He resides with his wife, Arlene L. Fleming nee McDaniel, in Vancouver.
