Description
Caption: Searing heat and lack of rainfall spell trouble for Texas farmers this year. This picture of dry cracked ground in a cornfield near Cedar Hill, Tex., is multiplied many times throughout the state. Texas agriculture officials say about 800,000 acres of planted cotton will be lost this year, costing farmers about $166 million in expected income.
