1975 Press Photo Ukrainian Easter Egg Mrs. Jean Warner

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Caption: Not Designed For Eating. Jean Warner of Westland shows how a stylus, some beeswax and brightly colored ink can turn a lowly chicken-egg into an Easter season masterpiece. She and 19 other women and one man are learning the art of Ukrainian egg painting at the Northwestern YWCA in Redford Township. The first tip they got from instructor Marilyn Riopelle is that raw eggs make the best canvasses.
