1981 Press Photo Dave Toma Police telethon retarded

Caption: Dave Toma, the East Coast Supercop who gained national recognition through the ABC television series based on his unique career with the Newark, NJ Police Department, will co-host the Third Annual Telethon for the Retarded with Celebrity Soupy Sales and Michigan's Miss America Pam Kidred. The fund raiser will originate from Detroit's Light Guard Armory at 4400 East Right Mile. It stars at noon Saturday, June 7, and runs for 30 consecutive hours until 6 p.m. Sunday, June 8. Scores of local and national celebrities will join the trio in person at the Armory in their quest to raise $500,000 to aid the retarded. The telethon will be aired on Channel 20 in Detroit, Channel 41 in Battle Creek, and Channel 10 in the Jackson-Lansing area.
