1950 Press Photo Giuseppe Torre l'osservatore romano

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Caption: Giuseppe Dalla Torre, Count of Sanguinetto, managing edictor of "L'Osservatore Romano," the Vatican's semi-official organ, shown at his desk in his office in Vatican City. The paper was first published July 1, 1861. Its tone during the last 30 years has been set by Torre, who writes 90 percent of its blunt, sometimes vitriolic polemics.
