1947 Press Photo Harry Bess Wallace Truman Sidney Waugh

Caption: will be loads of gifts like the one (left) from President and Mrs. Truman. It is a lead crystal bowl, entirely handblown with a carousel motif applied by copper-wheel engraving. Five sets of characteristic merry-go-round figures adorn the ten-inch receptacle. The bowl and cover were designed by Sidney Waugh, American sculptor, and was made in New York. It was not explained what utility the ornate bowl will serve in the royal household.
