Description
Caption: Garden City, Michigan, Band to boom in Dallas: The Garden City East High School Band made it down to Dallas for the nationality televised Cotton Bowl Parade New Year's Day. The parade can be seen in Detroit at 10 a.m. on Channel 2. The band, left, which was chosen by Cotton Bowl officials to represent Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, is positioned toward the end of the marching event, according to a band spokesman. During the last two months, band members have been feverishly collecting money and holding fund raisers to finance the $ 27,000 trip. At one point, they almost bowed out because of insufficient funds. But transportation plans were switched from air to bus and their goad eventually was reached. (Jan 2 1980, 1:23 PM).
