1967 Press Photo Sir Francis Chichester Elizabeth II

Caption: July 7, 1967--Round-The-World Mariner Knighted--Britain's Queen Elizabeth II dubs Sir Francis Chichester a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire today during ceremony on the lawn of the Royal Naval College in London. The queen used the same sword with which British naval hero Sir Francis Drake had been knighted.
