Caption: Roberta Flack, singer, who taught music and English literature in South Carolina before becoming a recording artist. Her first hist single, "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," won a Grammy in 1972 and 1973 brought another Grammy for "Killing Me Softly." She was born in 1939.
