Description

Governor Michael V. DiSalle and Mrs. John H. Glenn Sr. of New Concord, mother of the astronaut, view the slightly damaged Friendship 7 cake created for the Columbus luncheon honoring Mrs. Glenn as Ohio Mother of 1962. As the cake was being wheeled into the dining room, one of the sparklers symbolizing the blast-off, dropped from the cake and ignited the doily beneath.
