Marine Lt. Col. John Glenn, first US astronaut to orbit the earth, poses with new insignia he received today in Pentagon ceremonies. At left, on his tunic, is the new Marine astronaut insignia, presented to him by General David Shoup, Marine Corps Commandant, who is at left. Below the combat ribbons, Glenn wears his New Navy astronaut wings, presented to him by Navy Secretary Fred Korth, not shown. At top of the combat ribbons is Glenn's Marine Corps pilot wings.
