Description

It was a cold sunny morning when New Concord residents and thousands of visitors began lining a parade route, with Astronaut John H. Glen, the big attraction. Spectators, many of whom arrived as early as 7 am were dressed warmly for the long wait for the parade scheduled for 1:30 pm.
