Description
This giant radio-telescope near Manchester, England, is being used to track the moon rocket launched today at Cape Canaveral, Fla. The telescope is owned and operated by Manchester University of England and is believed to be the largest steel, movable structure in the world. The telescope at rest remains facing upward but can be rotated and tipped so that it covers broad regions of space. It may also be tipped so that the scope faces downward to permit replacement of antenna and other maintenance.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.

Photo is dated 10-11-1958.
