Maggie Smith plays a woman of paradox in her latest film, "The Widower," a role both romantic and comic. The film's director, Alan J. Pakula, describes Maggie Smith as more than equal to the role. "She's a great actress and a great comedienne." Miss Smith is one of Britain's leading stage actresses as well as an international motion picture actress. "The Widower," filmed on location in Spain, is her first movie since "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie," which earned her the best actress Oscar for 1969.
