J. D. Smith, Jefferson County Tax Collector, led the roster of 460 county employees receiving service pins to mark the years, from 10 to 50, they have worked for the county. Smith, who got a diamond studded pin signifying 50 years of service said, "They've all been good years." County Commissioners presented pins today to Birmingham Division employees with 15 or more years service. Ten year pins will be handed out next week. Employees in the Cutoff will get their service pins Wednesday in a ceremony at the Bessemer courthouse.
