Description
Stricken seaman saved at sea. Although he is confined to bed, S 1/c Russell Eugene Denman of Findlay, O., has good reason to smile. Stricken with peritonitis aboard a small tanker that lacked medical facilities for his care, the seaman was transferred to a huge troop transport for a delicate operation on a ruptured ulcer that caused the peritonitis. Denman's skipper radioed his plight from the middle of the Pacific and the transport was ordered to change course in order to take the ailing man aboard.

Photo is dated 1945.

Photo measures 8 x 6.25 inches.
