1952 Press Photo Ruth Van Pelt, Roger Griswold use stairs due to elevator strike

Description
With the Chicago business section virtually para;yzed by a major strike by elevator operators. These photos show what happens to some of the more rugged office workers in the downtown area. At left Ruth Van Pelt of Chicago and Roger Griswold of Harvey, Illinois, appear fresh and smiling at the beginning of their 21 flights, which they climbed to reach their office. At right Miss Van Pelt and Griswold are just about ready to collapse from exhaustion as they reach the 21st floor of the building, cheer up friends, the trip down is easier, so they say.
