We interviewed several people for the position, but Mike is the guy we wanted."Minority hiring practices in baseball have been scrutinized closely in recent months after comments made in April by former Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Al Campanis on ABC-TV's "Nightline." Campanis said blacks "may not have some of the necessities" to become a baseball manager or general manager. Campanis was fired for the remarks, and his comments touched off a national furor.Wilson becomes the second black executive in Tigers'.
