Caption: Cheered by Old White House Friends -- Associated Press photographer Henry Griffin, right, got calls from President Kennedy and former presidents Eisenhower and Truman when he went to the hospital in Washington for throat surgery. At left he is shown with camera flattening his nose as he photographed President Kennedy during latter's phone call to Astronaut Gordon Cooper aboard the carrier Kearsarge in the Pacific May 16. Hank has been a familiar figure at the White House since he returned from war fronts in December 1945.
